Davao City Council Approves Davao Athlete Incentive Act
CASH incentives await athletes who will bring honor to Davao City after the Davao City Council passed the third and final reading of a city ordinance institutionalizing the award system for Dabawenyo athletes and coaches.
“This is a way for Davao City Government to thank them sa ilahang pagdala sa pangalan pud not only Davao City but the entire Dabawenyos gyud (representing Davao City and the Dabawenyos). So we are very happy that it has finally been approved and institutionalized,” said Davao City Councilor Jaffar Marohomsalic, Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee, in an interview on November 22, 2022.
Marohomsalic said athletes and coaches who have only been approved by the city’s sports division will be eligible to receive the incentive.
Marohomsalic said athletes who joined the regular international competition of an individual category or with less than five limbs will receive P30,000 for gold, P20,000 for silver and P10,000 for bronze.
While a team of five or more members will receive P50,000 for gold, P30,000 for silver, and P20,000 for bronze.
Additionally, in the team category, teams of Davao City athletes who have represented the Philippines will receive an individual bonus of P25,000 for gold, P20,000 for silver, and P10,000 for bronze.
“This category, Team Philippines, are the events that are sanctioned by the Philippine Olympic Committee which represents our country as Team Philippines, and also represents Davao City,” he said.
Marohomsalic said there are also pending incentives for athletes who will compete in the national competition in the team category of up to five members and the individual category will receive P15,000 for gold, P12,000 for gold. silver and 10,000 P for bronze. .
Additionally, teams of five or more members that participate in National Tournaments will receive P25,000 for gold, P20,000 for silver, and P10,000 for bronze.
Meanwhile, the athletes who participated in the regional competition in the team category of up to five members and the individual category are P10,000 for gold, P8,000 for silver and P5,000 for bronze. , while P15,000 awaits the gold medalist. , P8,000 for silver and P5,000 for bronze for teams of five or more members.
