An NFL franchise should be on sale soon

The Denver Broncos were the latest NFL franchise to go up for sale, selling for a record $4.65 billion last month. And according to Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, the Seattle Seahawks could be the next team to hit the market, and it could happen soon.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Irsay revealed he believes the Seahawks will be up for sale by around 2024 – just a few years away.

“There are going to be a few,” Irsay said in an interview on Bloomberg’s “Business of Sports” program. “Seattle – with Paul Allen, my friend who sadly passed away and this team is in trust – will become available, I imagine, in the 2024 lineup.”

While the team will be up for sale and will no doubt generate a lot of interest, Irsay acknowledges that the skyrocketing value of NFL franchises could make it difficult to find a buyer.

“I know where franchise values go,” Irsay said. “And one thing we do know is that there’s great interest in people who haven’t reached the Broncos. There are some really great people who are capable, but the problem now is finding people who have the net worth who can actually buy a team. It’s very difficult.”

But one way or another, it looks like the Seahawks will get a new owner sooner rather than later.
