Ice from North Pole. Vodka from Russia. Power metal from Germany. The content of this album is quite obvious from the moment you see the cover art. More or less (in this case I'd say less) epic true/power metal. The songs are made of the same ingredients that have been used in numerous occasions: recycled riffs, heavy drumming and lyrics based on Scandinavian mythology. The singer sounds quite good, his rather harsh (compared to the usual whiners) voice suits surprisingly well here. Still all this results in, I'm sad to say, a poor final output. The songs are straight forward and nice uptempo tunes but that's as far as I dare to go with the compliments. There are thousands of these kind of bands that lack originality almost entirely and whereas bands that sound somewhat similar to Wizard (like Iron Savior and Hammerfall) may also lack originality, they still manage to sound a lot better. The album was produced by Piet Sielck but unfortunately not even his touch can save the little there is to save. Halfway through the album one might start to ask himself who pushed the repeat button. No one, but it surely sounds like someone did. The album isn't completely hopeless, but frankly there isn't much to tell to the coming generations.
