5. The Glitter In The Eyes
Unbelievalble that this is a yet unsigned band! Their melodic deathmetal is so good, it's really hard to believe that this is just the first demo, the first recording of these French guys! They wanted to deliver something good and went to the Agora Studios for it, where they recorded this gem under the supervision of Laurent Navarro.

So yeah I guess this is most of all melodic deathmetal, in good Swedish tradition hehe, but I don't think that this comparison does the band enough justice. The influences of heavy metal, thrash, black metal and a touch of folk (some clean vocal harmonies) make this style much more varied and I personally like this band more than any of the bands they've been compared to (like Dark Tranquillity, Opeth and Dimmu Borgir). The songs are well-structured, technical, complex but melodic, heavy, with some acoustic parts as well as fast blasbeats-parts, good solos, great drums and they have a singer that many bands wouldn't even dare to dream of! Xavier has a powerful deep death grunt, but switches without any effort to higher vocals and also uses clean vocals to set a whole different mood when the parts ask for it. He can do it all and uses it all. As you, the reader, may know I'm not an expert when it comes to death metal and the vocals often get to monotonous for me - well, no worries here!! Next to the sheer power in his voice, it's the huge amounts of emotion he puts in that gives me goosebumps and fascinates me totally and endlessly!

"Primitive Intrusion" is an ominous intro with some spoken parts, then "When The Living Feed The Dead" bursts out of your speakers with a riff that takes you back to the glorious Bay Area days. Xavier puts in his normal death grunts and the rest of the song is pretty much thrash/death with some blastbeat parts. In "Endless Devotion" I hear a bit more black (kinda like Dimmu Borgir) and a lot of that great drumwork by Jean-François. Xavier can take you to some fantasy world for a moment in a dreamy epic part, then jerk you right back to reality with some of his awesome long-held deep growls, woah!! Can't get enough of those!! "The Shores Of Sanity" is again very diverse with killer riffs, melodic leads and some clean vocals in the chorus. "The Glitter In My Eyes" is really something else..... starting with very cool haunting drums, with some acoustic guitar and clean vocals, before it bursts into yet another death/thrash metal anthem! Lots of incredible haunting drumming on this one, esp in the faster heavy parts where I just cannot sit still....... ROAAAWWWK!
