The Swabian trio Undertow do not present something new, but with the fantastic instrumental intro "Fire Walk With Me" I'm already melting away... METAL /mp/\.jpgm/... followed by the doomy title track "34CE" Slow fat riffs, heavy and melancholic, make me moving along - DOOOOOOOM me. With "Captured" I already can't deny to compare them with Crowbar. Surely they heard it a thousand times before...Joachim Baschin's vocals are very similar to Kirk Windstein's. Maybe they are not that intense like Crowbar, but they do heavy, solid metal and keep a wonderful balance to mix doom and thrash with core elements. After an ass kicking "Stand By" comes "The Memories Lie" and follower "Generation" is so emotional, but still heavy that I can hardly sit here writing the review. "Missing Link" prepares you for the upcoming thrasher "W.O.T." before we get back on the emotional ground with "BushIDo" which has some well integrated piano parts. With "Flashover" Undertow speed up again. The album kicks ass and is definitely worth to be checked out.
