rating: 4/5

1. Holy
2. Raiders Of Beyond
3. Metal Heart
4. X T C
5. Drum Solo
6. Fast As A Shark
7. Princess Of The Dawn
8. Restless And Wild
9. Thunder In The Tower
10. Hard Attack
11. Balls To The Wall

The start of the story is the usual. Once upon a time there was...a little Russian tour. After the tour had ended, reborn as a brilliant double live album under the name of "Live In Russia". The album mainly concentrated on the "Holy" album and live rarities of Accept and U.D.O. and not on the well-known songs. Therefore big hits were excluded. So the gap was made. "Nailed To Metal" is supposed to fill this gap as the subtitle shows it as well: "The Missing Tracks".

Let's analyse what we can hear on the album. (Statistically we got seven Accept, three U.D.O. songs and a drum solo). One thing is sure: (Udo and) U.D.O. never change. Hopefully. We got what we wanted to hear: Great music, powerful but melodic guitar riffs, deep baritone vocals. Just like good old (Accept) days. Udo and his musicians do their best.

The album opener is - as on the whole tour as well - "Holy". (Man, I love this song!) The next song is "Raiders Of Beyond". These two are highlights from the best U.D.O. album so far. They are real power metal songs. Excellent for headbanging.

Then comes the Accept era. All the bests of the bests ("Metal Heart", "Fast As A Shark", "Princess Of The Dawn" etc.) Great songs! Always joy to hear them.

And on this album we got some interesting songs, too. First of all, there is "XTC" which was recorded by Accept on their non-Udo sung album. The song got new blood, so it was reborn and has more power compared to the original version. The other one is "Hard Attack" from the very last Accept album. (This song became one of the Accept's swam song). The closing tune is the song that need no introduction: Ladies and gentlemen, it's the one, the only: "Balls To The Wall".

Summary: We got great songs here, great audience and great atmosphere. The whole album is totally listener friendly. (IMHO: excellent choice for travelling).

Nailed To Metal - DVD

Live performances:
1. Holy
2. Raiders Of Beyond
3. Midnight Mover
4. Independence Day
5. Metal Eater
6. Winter Dreams
7. Shout It Out
8. Cut Me Out
9. I'm A Rebel

The first surprise of the DVD is that it isn't concert video but documentary. (To me) it is a bit disappointing that the film doesn't contain the whole material of "Live In Russia", only 45 minutes of it. The picture quality isn't the best but it could be worse. There are several camera changes and visual effects. (I'd better see much more live recordings).

Behind The Scenes:
Russia
USA
Udo's parachute jump

Mainly contains the travelling parts of the tour in Russia and USA. It shows what boring and unhappy life musicians have to live. NOT! The films have some funny, some interesting moments, and of course the films are entertaining. We can see the band members travelling, Udo smoking, band arriving, Udo smoking, band eating, Udo smoking... (Man, he smokes much for a singer!!!) We can watch Fitty playing (with a jump rope and a machine gun).

Video clips:
They Want War - Video Clip
Break The Rules - Video Clip
Heart Of Gold - Video Clip
Heart Of Gold - Making Off
Heart Of Gold - Hitstudio 1989
Timebomb - Electronic Presskit
Independence Day - Video Clip
Still - Together With ARIA
Go Back To Hell - Live Bochum 1998
Drum solo - Russia 2001

Finally I got the chance to see the every video clip of the band! And some interesting stuff like the presskit of the "Timebomb" album or Udo's singing in Russian. My only problem is that three times "Heart Of Gold" is too much. (The clip, the making, the German TV-show).

Bonus tracks:
X-T-C (taken from the album "A Tribute To Accept")
The Key (Bonus Track of the album "No Limits")
Mad Dogs And Loaded Guns (Demo Version for the album "Solid")
Warchild (Demo Version for the album "Solid")
Rated X (Demo Version for the album "No Limits")
Tough Luck (Demo Version for the album "No Limits")
Recall The Sin (Demo Version for the album "Holy")

This section also contains exciting things for fans. Most of the songs are rather good and it's worth to go through all the songs. I always find interesting to compare a song with its demo version. Usually the demo songs have more raw power than on the album. "Mad Dogs" is the song that could - after a little workout - scream for an album.

Discography:
This section contains the covers and lyrics of the albums. And some audio samples are also available. And you find the lyrics of the rare songs too.

Biography:
This section seems under construction, not really finished. All biographies are equal to the ones that can be found on the band's homepage. This part of DVD is not much fun.

Photo Gallery:
This section is very good. Most of the pictures are rare, not seen much of them. The pictures show the band from the early days to nowadays.

Links:
From the links the band's official websites is only one related to the band. The others are guitar and other equipment.
