Now the Italians are banging doors again. This time the intruders are called Sigma, and watch out, they're attacking with doublebass and electric guitars. Not too long ago I wrote about a band called Bejelit, the style of which is basically the same as Sigma's, and about a relatively more popular band, Thy Majestie. Well, I could simply copy here the things I wrote back then, only exchanging the song titles. But this is not negative criticism: I'm just saying that this is the third band about which I could write exactly the same things. Melodic, speedy heavy metal, with only one thing to "piss me off": all of them are practically flawless. I couldn't find any technical fault in the case of Sigma either.

The members of this Italian band aren't freshmen: they started making music in 1996, though they weren't called Sigma then, and the music was also different (hard rock, yeeaaaah). They must be rather well known in their home country, since they have toured with Labyrinth as well as Vision Divine, and they've been on stage at the Gods of Metal festival several times. They even released an album in 2000, under the label of Atheria Records. So they seem to be trying hard to find their place in the world of metal music. It partly means that they're looking for a supportive big label. This is the reason why they recorded the 5-track promo "Win Or Lose" in January. All the four tracks following the intro, which is almost 2 minutes long, are speedy, melodic, but not too original metal songs. The titles also suggest stereotypical lyrics and themes. Here I must emphasize again that each and every musician of Sigma would stand their ground anywhere (Frank Rider - guitar, Max Adams - guitar, Pasko - bass, Andrew Dal Zio - percussion). Even the singer, Anthony Pecere does his best. However, I still miss what we'd call real good songs.
