5. With Or Without You

Now that must be a kickass record!!! Influenced by Dream Theater, Stratovarius, Helloween, Iron Maiden, Angra, Yngwie Malmsteen and and and...
I kind of doubted that the Brazilian band Sagitta could live up to my expectations, but I must admit, I am positively surprised now that I've heard the first tunes of the EP "Bad Signs". It is a five-track EP, four songs and an intro, and I must say, I expected "usual" power metal, but as I said, Sagitta are not that bad. Of course, it is no god-like output, but for a debut, not bad, guys!!

The band members all listen to the bands above, but the keyboardist enjoys the classical tunes most. His number one influence is Johann Sebastian Bach. Well, the songs are written by the lead guitarist Alex and the bass-player Alex, but the classical influence is unignorable. The drumsound reminds a bit of Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), number one influence of drummer Thiago, and the voice ...well, it is good, but there's no way to reach Michael Kiske, the idol of singer Ricky. The music is, as I said above, good, sometimes a bit complicated, i.e. prog metal. But in the first place it is melodic power metal, with the classical input of the keyboard in the background. I don't want to write about every song here, it's all good power-stuff, but the last song "With Or Without You" is a ballad with a slight power-touch, cool song, it's my favourite I'd say!
The band-homepage is a good one. You can download extracts from all four songs (between one and two minutes) and there is even a video online from Lolla Palooza festival.
