Well, Raising Fear is an Italian power metal band, and they really play power metal! Being named after the legendary Armored Saint album from 1987, the band was founded four years ago by the two guitar players Alberto Toniolo and Yorick, who also does the main songwriting.

And the music is really good, the weak point within Raising Fear is Rob DF's voice, that is actually not bad, but in certain spheres he cannot reach the tunes exactly, too bad! Well, that's really the only negative thing to say about the band, the songs and the songwriting are really great. Songs like the opener "Thorr" or "Fenrir", where Rob shows that he can sing better in the calm middle-part of the song or some others really have catchy tunes and the production is a good one as well. The songs are full of melody, but never overloaded. The songs are mostly fast power metal, the only ones falling out of that frame is "Montezuma" which is a very slow but also heavy song, and the powerful ballad "The Goddess". Just the chorus of "Ocasta" is a bit boring because it's too penetrating.

All in all, the CD is good, the songwriting very good but the vocals a bit too weak, and that's the worst thing because each band's first reference is the voice of the singer. But I'd really like to hear the next record, everybody can improve of course!
