Necronomicon was formed in the early eighties when such thrash heroes like Destruction, Kreator and Sodom came to life. Their line-up has not changed much since - only bass players came and went - but years passed between the releases of their albums. They had not much luck with the record companies and had also private difficulties. This year, their fifth work saw the light but we had to wait almost 10 years for this new Necronomicon album.

I guess already the first sentence of this review gave you a hint what this is album about: fine old-school trash metal. Tight tempos, ripping riffs and angry vocals - similar to Destruction's Schmier. Though they are from Germany, their music has got some American influences. I would say it is 90% of European thrash metal - aggression and energy - and the rest is written in the vein of Metallica and Testament - heavy melodies. I can tell you, this is a killer mixture. You will love "Construction Of Evil" if you grew up in the bright years of thrash metal or are just a die-hard fan of old-school thrash. Otherwise, the newer generation might find it repetative but even they should know, this is how pure thrash is supposed to sound.

They even hold some surprises for us too. Near to the end of the album we got a hint about their hardrock influences too. And as a bnous we have got two live tracks and video clip on the album.
