Myon are a Finnish band and they play a combination of hard rock, 70's heavy metal, modern melodic metal and even some AOR. "Ghost In Paradise" is their second album and it is a step forward from their debut "Heaven's Garden". Even if this is only their sophomore release the guys are experienced musicians and it surley can be heard on the album. The singer, Sami Huotari, sounds very good to me, but on the other hand I do understand if someone thinks of his voice as annoying. Especially the vibration of his voice goes over the top occasionally. On the other hand, he was replaced shortly after the album was released.

The song material seems to be on one certain level where it stays throughout the album. There are no high or low points, although some of the solos are very well thought. With most of the songs I started humming along, but forgot the melody right away when the next song started. In other words the melodies in general are catchy but unfortunatley not that memorable, although there are some pretty good ideas.

Most of the songs are mid-tempo, but there are a few exceptions where the going gets a little power metalish. In my opinion both the guitarist and the keyboardist deserve some recognition, as especially the keyboardist manages to create wonderful atmosphere at times and they also occasionally add a proggy touch. All in all, if you're into melodic heavy metal, but tired of the overflooding ultrafast-doublebass-neoclassical stuff, you might want to give Myon a try.
