When you let the CD grow on you, you'll feel the growth of the band and its music. It's more rock-orientated than ever, but the Mennen-edge is still there as well. Yet overall this album has a very relaxed atmosphere that can't be compared to any of the older material really - it's amazing how mature the songs have become! The band has matured in the years since the previous release and the songwriting became more of a band effort. Credit to this wonderful atmosphere is also Erwin Muspers, whose experience must have added to the maturity of the album as well. Everything's right.... the vocals have never been this good: the more modern songs gave Joss Mennen a chance to do so much more with his voice than before. The guitarwork never sounded this good either - this band has only grown since they continued as a four-piece years ago! Eric van de Kerkhof deserves a lot more fame for his talents! And then there is the driving rhythm section that carry the songs with precision and groove, also very clear in the mix: Alex Jansen's bass and Fon Janssen's drums.

"Down" is the first single, a great rock song, laid-back but getting a bit more powerful towards the end with a few Zero Hour-like progressive parts. "Above The Waterline" is the first acoustic song, very sensitive, only Joss, nices harmonies in the chorus and Eric's guitar. Less is more, wow! I've never heard Joss sing this good. Time to spice things up a little in "It's Over" and "Rain" (awesome bass!). "Secrets And Lies" is slow again, very relaxed, building up to an emotional part with awesome vocals and then slowing down a bit again. "BOB" (Band Of Brothers), the working title of the album until they found "Freakazoid", is pretty much a Mennen-old-style song, heavier and just very recognizable. Eric can shred again here ;) Same goes for "Freakazoid" although it's not as heavy. "These Good Times" is slow with a more modern touch to it somehow, and some great (somewhat distorted) backing vocals in the chorus!! Then it's blues time (a bit)... "Believe", a ballad with an amazing Thin Lizzy feel - just great! The song builds up to a slighty heavier, driven part with some awesome vocals! "The World Stopped Turning" is about how people experienced 9/11 with siren samples and again some awesome shredding by Eric!! To lighten things up again they close with a energetic song about a Dutch beer, the beer's called Wiekse Witte, the song's called "Wicked White" ;) A powerful ending to this CD that leaves you no choice but to hit the play button again for more beauty :)
