Coldness, death, the presence of evil …. "The Ultimate Death Worship" brings dark fear into your life again. If you want to feel the kind of misanthropy only black metal can provide, don't hesitate, this album is a must for you.
"Bury the life deep down in the darkness. Extinction of lifeforce is a worship of death. Suicide is true cultivation of evil. As the phantom of the soul is obsessed."

The music is perfect. Typical LA though a few things have changed. No, they still use a drum machine instead of a human drummer but this time they put much more effort on the guitars. They form impenetrable solid walls from pounding riffs, providing a lot of variety in the music and also melodies that are sometimes even catchy due to their thrashy tunes. The new material is dominated by the guitars and the black metal vocals. Overall it's more brutal and has more fast parts too than the previous albums had. The keyboard orientation has faded a bit, they pushed them rather in the background instead and also created some really strange sound with its help. Sometimes you don`t know if your cellular is ringing, your computer sends error signs or just their instrument is out of tune. I don't think there are many bands out there who dared to build such sounds into their music. At first it sounds weird, but overall it gives extras to the album. Like its own atmosphere that you've not often experienced, and still keeping the well-known LA-feeling. So, don't expect majestic choirs and synth passages, rather prepare for the unusual.
The songs last longer than 6 minutes except "Purgatorial Agony" and "Last Rite For The Silent Dark" that are actually intro-like with spoken words, spooky noises and so on. From the other tracks length it's easy to guess they composed more complex songs than we were used to on the previous LA releases but still tiresome or boring aren't any of them. Among the well built songs there is a highlight "Towards The Oblivion Of Dreams" , the longest track of the album, that is the most epical, dark and gloomy, not missing the strange synths sounds either. This songs is even put into the frame of the two above mentioned passages.

With the title it's obvious what the lyrics are about. Maybe it's a typical subject but their dark moods will compensate all the moanings sceptics may have.

In the last 10 years we were let to follow their musical development with attention since the beginning and they are several steps higher on the black metal stairway again. In short, "The Ultimate Death Worship" is something new, opening interesting paths to the next generation of black metal though I'm not sure "true" black fans would agree on this.
