"Greetings boys and girls. Are you ready to rock 'n' roll? Good. Then slip into your gore jacket and prepare to sing along." - as Cryptkeeper announces the new album from the British Gorerotted and the massacre is on the way. If the cover and their friendly name haven't cleard it yet, they are a gore-death band with a special kind of humour that might not be appealing to everybody. Though if you enjoy such "cult" movies like "Braindead", you will have no problem with Gorerotted either.

But I have a slight fear that many of us will be not able to sing along with the band. The high pitched, barking vocals might not mean a problem for the most of us - especially after listening to the vocal technics of Mr. Gore. He also does the punk-like, hysterical shouts. The growlings of Goreskin (aka Babysliced) is something harder to copy. The deep, understandable growlings are something that most of us can produce but the murmuring, babbling, indistinct way of "singing" needs some professionalism. And we should not forget about their bassplayer, The Wilson, who is responsible for the wide range of screams.

The music is fast, brutal, grinding death metal. Some songs are pretty melodic but of corpse within the boundaries of brutality. The point is that melodies are not perished with the speed. They even have written varied songs. There are a bunch of guitar riffs, solos and drum themes that keep the songs interesting and the musicians busy. The changes and breaks give a feeling of complexity and everything is wrapped in brutality. There are only pools of blood left behind after this 30 minute long album, condemning us to silence. The cover is just a drawing but as the music goes forward those chain saws are becoming more and more real. For testing, start with "Fuck Your Arse With Broken Glass" or "Village People Of The Damned".

"Well headbangers, wasn't that one real smash?" - asks evil-smiling Cryptkeeper at the end of the first song but it would more proper to shoot this question at us at the end of the album.

Last year, Ghoul was my top band among gore bands, this year it will Gorerotted for sure.
