Mysteriously I found a CD in my mailbox with a little note of a colleague of mine. "Hey there! I thought you could like to review some 80's rock for a change". "Wow...yeah...hairspray rock!" I directly got my stretchjeans, the leopard headscarf and a pretty stupid smile on my face and jockeyed everything in front of the stereo device. For a long time I have been waiting for good follow-ups of Whitesnake, Mötley Crue and Lillian Axe, so with shaking hands I pushed the play button.

I tried to keep in mind that this band doesn't want to be taken serious (at least you cannot expect to be taken serious with artist names like Don Marco, Mississippi Murdoc or Evil Pete), but even then I do expect a level of quality.

My smile faded from song to song! Hey guys...I know it should make fun...and I know you produced it yourself and it is not easy, but what you did send us here is a serious waste of hairspray!

I really hate to write bad about a demo. But sorry dudes, your six track demo got no energy and is played a bit powerless. I would advise (I know - noone likes advices) to put more energy in rehearsals and in the groove, 'cause this CD reminds me of my first highschool band covering some AC/DC and Kiss riffs. Of course the not-too-good sound also depends on the way of recording. Let's see: Gambling Crew as well have some nice ideas. Like to use a clear and a growling voice. It is as well an advantage that all band members are doing vocals, BUT if you do vocals please hit the notes and even growling works in tune. Then we have the lyrics. Not my cup of tea either. Of course it is just about sex, alcohol and music, but in my opinion in a very tasteless way.

It takes more than glamour and clothes to do good poser rock.

The bottom line is: back to the drawing table (rehearsal room) guys!
