This is For My Pain...'s debut album, but the maturity of their music is easily explained. For My Pain... are a Finnish band formed by members from other Finnish bands. The band includes such names as Juha Kylmänen (vocals, Reflexion), Lauri Tuohimaa (guitar, Embraze), Olli-Pekka Törrö (guitar, ex-Eternal Tears of Sorrow), Altti Veteläinen (bass, Eternal Tears of Sorrow), Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards, Nightwish) and Petri Sankala (drums, Eternal Tears of Sorrow). So, having heard the lineup of the band, the project started to sound very interesting to say the least. Although there are three former members from Eternal Tears of Sorrow For My Pain...'s music is nowhere near melodic death metal, but instead the band's musical direction could be easily described as melodic goth-like heavy metal. Kylmänen's vocals sound very pleasant and he definitely is a good singer. His voice is clean, clear, strong and yet soft in a positive way and at times he reminds of Ville Valo of HIM. Miriam Renvåg lends her voice for one song, "Dancer in the Dark", but I would have liked to hear more of her singing. Not that there is anything wrong with Kylmänen's singing, but she sounds too good to be singing on just one track.

Eventhough Holopainen is responsible for the keyboards, do not expect Nightwish-style operatic wall of sound. They're merely in the background adding their own share to the atmosphere. Holopainen didn't write any music on the album, but his playing is beautiful nonetheless. The overall feeling is sad, except for "Rapture of Lust" which sounds almost happy and the production of the album is top notch. The kind of polished sound that suits this kind of music perfectly. Their music is emotional, but instead of getting too gloomy, it is quite easily accessible as the songs are rather straight forward and rocking kind. The songs are melancholic, melodic and most of all catchy. While there may not necessarily be anything groundbreakingly new or innovative stuff in this output, the final result stands out from the dozens of similar bands with it's quality songwriting. Some of the song material is sadly somewhat indifferent, but luckily most of them are of high quality, like the catchy "Queen Misery", the aforementioned "Rapture of Lust" and "Sea Of Emotions".
