Fleshcrawl exists for more than a decade now. They are a stable spot on the map of the German death metal scene and this is their seventh full length album. Founding member guitarist Stefan Hanus left them in 2002 and has been replaced by Oliver Grbavac. They mostly spent 2003 with writing new songs and the result is "Made Of Flesh". Fortunately we cannot feel Stefan's absence in their music, which is still old-school death metal played in the Swedish vein.

And again, they deliver a solid, reliable, straight forward death metal album. Mid paced and faster songs ("Made Of Flesh", "Damned In Fire", etc) are rolling after each other. In some song we can find great melodies while others are sheer brutality but they keep the catchiness in every one of them. Sven Gross' deep growlings are understandable, full of hatred and brutal as well. The things I miss are the solos and the sharp changes or something that could break the homogenity of the music. It is a strong and heavy death metal album but there is not much I can tell you about it. There is no use to analyze the songs because they have been made from the same material and the result is a strong but not too interesting death album. No, it is not boring, it is simply just the next one in the line, that their fans will appreciate. What I really like about their album is the guitar sound. The muddy Swedish sound gave me goosebumps but that is no wonder, they again worked in Sweden in the Studio Underground where "Soulskinner" was recorded.

Anyway, fans of Fleshcrawl and old school Swedish death metal will love this album.
