Well, this is the first of two albums I have had in my possession since Marlies and Nico came to visit Canada. The "Hollish" people as we Canadians tended to call them (we even made them a sign) were simply delightful guests and I for one look forward to their return. But I digress, on to the music at hand.

I listened to this disc a few times over the summer and since I started feeling guilty about not getting a review in with any sort of regularity, spun it again and again and I have come to a defnite conclusion: Max Cavalera has an influence that will be felt for years. Had I not known better, I would have labelled this down tuned mosh fest of nu infected thrash as the new Soulfly record. Oddly enough, the world only needs one Soulfly. Right from the get go, "I Know Them" stomps into the consciousness of the listener, pounding away with a thick, yet simple and effective, guitar sludge. Things don't let up for track two, "Destroy" and continue in a similarly Soulflyesque vein for the remainder of the record. The vocals, the melody, the crunching heft of the guitars. The song structure, the whole damned album is what "Prophecy" could have been. A deft mix of "Roots" and Soulfly to pump your fist and damn the man to. A damn fine effort, even if it's all been done before.

(hehe thx Nathan - the "Hollish" people :P)
