Do you want to relax with listening to some rock music? Go for doubleDrive! They released their debut album "1000 Yard Stare" in 1999 at MCA Records, that was kinda grunge influenced music as I read in some article. I've never heard that album so I can just speak about "Blue In The Face" and how they sound now. Normally I never listen to bands like them but their second ablum arrived in a promo package, so I put "Blue In The Face" into my cd player. When I start listening to the promos from bands I don't know I check the booklet and their homepage and together with the music the first impressions are made. To go on, there are two possible ways for me. I may skip from song to song and make a decision sending the cd to other reviewers or I'm getting hooked. Actually, with doubleDrive I kinda forgot about the cd and kept doing my other, everyday activities. What do I mean now? doubleDrive is the perfect background music. It doesn't take all your attention, but its presence is there, everywhere around you. You can talk on the phone, cooking, driving or whatever, this is the music you can listen to without losing control on what you are doing. It's also the perfect music for partying. You can sing along with them or just going around, slip a drink and have a word with your friends while you keep nodding with your head to the rhythm of the music.

Basically they play mid-tempoed, melodic rock. Sometimes having a more grunge-ish feeling beside the simple modern rock songs, just like adding some Southern mood in a few. It has energy and vibe. Well, I have to admit it is nothing groundbreaking, in fact the only category I can put them into, is mainstream rock music but not from the sold-out type. "It's not brain surgery - it's just rock 'n' roll", as their drummer Mike Froedge says and I can only agree with him. Favourite songs: 11:59, Imprint.
