Sometimes there's a band that doesn't necessarily ring any bells by just the name. But once you put it in the cd player you're completely blown away in amazement. Lost In Twilight caught my attention sometime in the past with their intereseting music. At some point they came to the conclusion that they should change the name to a more suitable one and so Divercia was born.

Divercia is a Finnish band that plays very interesting style of music that combines elements from symphonic power metal, melodic black-ish/dark metal and gothic rock/metal. The music scenery is often painted with keyboards and this is exactly the thing that creates such a haunting and oppressive atmosphere. The keyboard sound is somewhat spacey throughout the album. And of course you can't put the heavy and memorable guitar riffs aside.

"Modus Operandi" is a wonderful combination of aggressiveness, darkness, melancholy and beautiful melodies. More than once names like Covenant's "Nexus Polaris" and Nightwish pop into mind, musically that is. Jyri Aarniva's vocals on the other hand remind of such bands as HIM and Sentenced. His outcome sounds very interesting as at times he's merely speaking than singing. But his voice fits the music perfectly.

Productionwise the album is top-notch as it was recorded and mixed at Astia studios and mastered at Finnvox studios which both are known for high quality products. Without a shadow of doubt I can recommend this to friends of power, gothic and even blackish metal.
