With "Down On Myself" Swiss band Disgroove release their debut album. Philippe Strübin on vocals and guitar, Tobias Roth on drums and Phillippe Gerber on bass founded Disgroove in 2001. Strübin and Roth are ex-members of the hardcore band Gurd and when reading that this album was co-produced by Eric Klinger (Pro Pain guitarist and producer), this album turned out as a surprise. I didn't expect such an alternative rock album and I must say it's a bit difficult for me to review. I can't call Disgroove a band with an unique style, as this has been played many times before, but it's a well produced album which is packed with powerful rock songs that remind me of bands from the Grunge genre...

Most of the times with an excellent songwriting, groovy guitar riffs combined with nice acoustic guitar parts, Phillippe Strübin's vocals fit perfectly in. Weakest songs on the album are definitly "It's Not Forever" and "Over". For me, the middle part is actually quite boring since I'm much more into metal than this alternative rock genre, but listeners of the genre will find these songs surely more interesting. "Alright" is one of the outstanding songs on the album and the beginning reminds a bit of Bon Jovi on their Britpop trip.
