Brand New Jersey from Sinsheim (Heidelberg area), founded in 1998 under a different band name, started their career via internet. With their self-produced demo "Radio Call" they became Jukebox-Hero at Virtual Volume. With this success, they started touring in January 2002. For the first time they toured in Germany and Switzerland and it was another success for them. In April 2002 they got the chance to do some support gigs on the European tour of New Zealand's Punkrock band Sommerset in Germany, Italy and Austria. After that tour and 50 shows they played in 2002 they went into Hamburg's MOB-Studios to record their debut album "Fireworks", produced by Mirko Schaffer and Marco Fabian Bunk.

Brand New Jersey describe themselves as a band with classical elements of Rock & Pop with Punk and Emo influences and 80% I would agree here. I'd describe Brand New Jersey as an Indie "Brit Pop" Rock band (yes indeed, I love playing with words). Sometimes they remind me of the early 80's New Wave times i.e. the song "Don't Count On Me". This nice debut album is full of solid, easy going rock songs with mellow lyrics. Nice hooklines getting right in your head, rocking guitars, but not heavy. The right album for any summer party! If you're into Bands like The Stereo, Foo Fighters, in some ways Bon Jovi - the way they are these days, then you can't go wrong here.
