The Swedish power metallers Seventh One are back with their second album "What Should Not Be". As the promotional flyer says, the quintet is more than a copy, they really can take the classic metal to a new and modern level!

The opener "Eyes Of The Nation" is a fast power metal song where singer Rino Fredh (who has received a price in Norway in 2004) can show, that he is a real metal vocalist. "How Many Years" is a midtempo song, where the powerful production of Metalium's Lars Ratz comes through, and Fredh shows that he can sing very aggressive vocals too, the chorus is really great; and the riffing is excellent too, a superb song! Check out the sample on the website!!! Towards the end, the song reminds a bit of Savatage, a part is sung by several voices, as the US-band is doing regularly, and the guitars are playing several melodies to that part, it sounds very good, but a tiny little bit overloaded. "Mercenaries Call" is another midtempo song, and again, Fredh is standing in the spotlight with his great voice. "Ancient Oath" is beginning very fast, but settles down a bit after about a minute. The bass guitar is kind of loud, compared to the other strings, but well, the record is mixed by a bass-player ;-) A sample of that song can be heard on the homepage of the band too. Next one, "Gallows Pole", starts very slow with simple guitar is to the fore. The only ballad (rather a half-ballad) is "Awaken Visions", where Fredh's voice is not working as good as in the heavy songs. "What Should Not Be" is a solid uptempo song, not bad, but not as good as the rest. Fredh is showing his great voice once more in "Where Infinity Ends", a slow and somehow depressing song with some accoustic parts and atmospheric vocals and guitars. "Shattered Glass" is the last song, another weird one. Again, the guitar and some keyboards in the background create a dark atmosphere. Another good song, but I would have preferred the song before as the final one.
As I said in the beginning, the production is very clear and powerful, and ... well, I can't think of anything else to say. Good job, guys !!!
